Our Team
After many request from visitors, friends and water sport fans, Tobago Surf Camp was born. Tobago offers many possibilities to enjoy your hobbies, but for people new to the island, it was difficult to know who to turn to in order to find good advice and the best locations. Therefore it was making sense for all the kite surfers, wake-boarders and surfers to unite and to create a Surf Camp.
Let’s introduce our Surf Camp Team:
Mark, Captain and Water Sports Instructor:
Mark grew up on the beach and in the ocean, so he made his hobby his job.
Mark is also our Water Sports Instructor, Locals are saying, he was wake-boarding before he was walking….
In 2007, Mark fulfilled his dream by building his own boat, the “Coast Runner”, a 32 feet Calypso with 2 engines (450 hp!).
Our Captain Michael for the Beginners:
Michael takes care of our beginners / wake-boarders with his boat “Angel”. Furthermore he is our man for the “Down-winder Kiters”
Enjoy the luxury of a relaxing “Down-winder” with the assistance of Michael’s transfer with the boat (taxi). He will take you to the outskirts of the Buccoo Reef. From there, you will start at a sand bank, the Nylon Pool, with speed you will kite back to the beach of Pigeon Point.
Surfer and Surf Instructor George
George is the Surf King at Mount Irvine Beach.
Everybody on the island knows George. Whenever you mention surfing, his name is the first that comes to mind. Surfing is George’s life and passion, which qualifies him to be the best for our team.
Kite instructor O’Ryan „ Mr. Hangtime“ ;-)
O’Ryan is a genius in kiting and our instructor. He is quite famous here, doing print advertising and TV-spots. So, if you don’t see him on the ocean kiting, he might smile at you from a bill-board or a delivery truck.
Watching him….., his time is “Hangtime”.
Surf-Board Carver Jobi
Jobi is our man for the technical stuff. He builds the boards according to our wishes and needs. Furthermore, he is a genius when it comes to repairs. His true passion is wood carving, but he is always up for a challenge. He never surfed on his boards, but he knows all the technicalities. When he starts explaining, you feel back at surf school...
People call me Zottel
May I introduce myself, I’m Zottel and I spend most of my time in front of a computer surfing ;-) the internet. In my spare time, I also enjoy any kind of water sports myself. I am unable to put myself in any category. I like everything, kiting, boarding, surfing, it has to be fun and I am always open for the next new fun sport.
Dori and our Headquarter
Thanks to Dori, we have a woman on our team.
Dori represents our Headquarter: She manages the beautiful Tobago Dream Café, which offers not only the best home-made cake on the island, but also a selective menu of various breakfasts and hearty lunches. Internet access is also available at the Tobago Dream Café. Dori offers everything a surfer could ask for.
